Mr Alastair Henderson joined Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust in 2010 as a consultant urological surgeon.
His clinical practice includes all aspects of general urology, and his special clinical interests are in the treatment of kidney problems including kidney cancer using laparoscopy and minimally invasive diagnosis and treatment for prostate cancer. He has particular experience in prostate brachytherapy, cryotherapy, laser prostatic surgery and robotic surgery for prostate cancer and in helping men with prostate cancer to decide on the right option for them.
Mr Henderson was an undergraduate at Imperial College and at St Mary's Hospital, London. He completed a PhD on prostate cancer. His postgraduate training was at Guy's Hospital in London as well as at Frimley, Epsom, East Surrey and the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford. This included visits to Seattle where Brachytherapy treatment was pioneered at the Seattle Prostate Institute, and over two years at Guy's Hospital learning robotic and laparoscopic surgery.
He is a member of the British Association of Urological Surgeons and the European Association of Urologists.
