Professional profile

Mr James Nicholl's medical training began at Cambridge University and Guy's Hospital. He pursued orthopaedic training on the Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital rotation, and further developed his skills through fellowships in shoulder surgery at Guy's Hospital and hand surgery at Queen Victoria Hospital.

In 1998, Mr Nicholl was appointed as an orthopaedic consultant at the Kent and Sussex Hospital and now works at Tunbridge Wells Hospital. In this role, he has been dedicated to diagnosing and treating various conditions, including carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, Dupuytren's contracture, hand and wrist fractures, and hand arthritis.

Mr Nicholl employs advanced techniques such as keyhole surgery (arthroscopy) to address joint-related issues in the wrist, minimising scarring and facilitating quicker post-operative recovery. He performs joint replacement procedures for thumb-base arthritis.

He collaborates closely with skilled physiotherapists and the specialised hand therapy department at Tunbridge Wells Hospital, ensuring comprehensive care for his patients.
